2024 Gear Upgrades

It was just….time for this upgrade. Primarily, I needed a boat my size = small. My Kokopelli boats are a standard size, which works for people about 5’4” and over. I am 5’1”, and need a much shorter boat to control properly in spicy water. Secondly, after my basically brand new Kokopelli Nirvana blew a T-Zip on the Escalante last year for seemingly no reason, I just couldn’t get back in the boat. If I want to continue, its lighter, it’s more compact, and it streamlines my repair kit, etc.

….Did I mention….I got a gravel bike? : D

After eighty miles with 60lbs+ on my back in the Bob Marshall Wilderness last summer, my trusty Keen’s finally hit the trash. While my Keens worked great, I had to wear neoprene socks all day over my hiking socks in an attempt to keep them clean. I also need more support and less flexibility while wearing bigger packs. Shoutout to Dan Camp, Astral athlete and host of ‘Camping Out with Dan’ Podcast, for the recommendation.

This swap is pretty straight forward, synthetic sports bras just don’t always dry overnight. I’ve tried a bunch of companies from Target, to REI, to even Lululemon - but they were all still wet in the morning unless I wore them to bed. After a ton of great feedback from friends about wool-blend sport-bra’s, I found a Smartwool Mireno Wool blend sports bra on Geartrader for $20!

Just a small town girl, living in a lonely world. I took the midnight train to Denver, CO.
